It’s been a long time since Charlie( A Movie Character) and my friends started asking this question. But from the moment I started hearing that question, seeing Meesappulimala became a great desire in my mind. But how can I in Riyadh see snow falling on Meesappulimala? Then came my vacation to this province.
When I got home for the holidays, I decided to go on my first trip to Meesappulimalai with my friends.
All three tents at the base camp were booked and paid for through KFDC’s online booking. These 3 tents are for 6 of us. 3500 per tent. + Food for two. From Munnar town, we traveled 24 km through Aruvikkadu estate via Mattupetty and reached the base camp of Meesappulimala.
The base camp stands at 6000ft MSL. A tent for 2 people. Inside the tent is a sleeping bag. We walked around the base camp and the sky cottage and its surroundings, and in addition to us, there was a newlywed couple from Pattambi, Ashwin, and Zuma, who was staying at the sky cottage. At 8.30 pm, cool food chapati, rice, toran, and sambar with good spicy chicken curry. Everything is extremely delicious. Finally the pudding for a bit of sweetness. Our intention was to eat and rest for a while, and then we saw that beautiful view. The sky is full of stars. The moon is like a bride laughing among the star companions. I went to the tent and picked up the camera and tripod. That colorful view of the sky was captured on camera. Milky Way caught my eye in the sky as I lay in the tent. I found it a little difficult to frame him as the moonlight was shining. By then the time was past 10.30 pm. The cold was unbearable. Gradually everyone warmed up in the sleeping bag inside the tent.
In the stillness of the night, various kinds of indistinct noises could be heard, and as the darkness grew thicker, the fear increased. But reassured himself that there was an electric fence around the camp.
By 7.30 am everyone was ready. By 8 o’clock, breakfast was ready and we were done eating. By 8.30 am, we had packed our lunch and a bottle of water and started climbing Meesappulimalai. After another three kilometers, we entered the never-before-seen atmosphere of natural beauty. That is Rodovali. The place is covered with bright red forest cover. From Rodovali, you can reach Meesappulimalai by climbing up to 9 small and large hills. Meesappuli Hill is about the height of an elephant. It is 8640 feet high.
As you climb each mountain, it feels like you have reached some height in the sky. The climb to Meesappulimalai is an adventurous journey from the clouds. Top Station, Eravikulam National Park, and Anayirangal Dam are some of the popular attractions of Meesappulimalai.
