Two failed marriages and a life without anyone’s support made Jasmine so free to stand on her own two feet. Today Jasmine is a certified fitness trainer based in Bangalore.

‘I was married at 18 years old. The condition is like being carried to the slaughter. The first night when he entered the room was the condition of seeing the ghost. I made a noise and the whole family came. I was a little kid. It’s the same in that place for other girls too. This is often the experience of children after marriage.
‘I realized my husband had autism.I came and stayed at my house for a year. In the meantime I got a job. A year later I filed a case for divorce. I had no voice at the wedding either. The same was true for divorce. People gathered and called for three Thvolakh. Divorced. Happy. ‘
‘I was happy. The situation was like when a rope above us breaks. Then I had the nickname ‘Ketticholliyaval’. At the age of 21, my family forced me into a second marriage. A physically fit man came with marriage proposal seems that very open. ‘ ‘I told him everything openly. I said I was divorced at the age of 18 and was a virgin. When all was said and done, he said the past was over. That was the answer I wanted. So the second marriage is over. ‘
‘I was very happy the first night. The first thing he did when he came into the room was give me a slap in the face. I did not understand what, how and why. feels like i am frozen. This is your second marriage,I married you for this.If you can endure this enough then only stay here.” ‘He tied my legs and brutally hurt me. Tortured both sexually and physically. I died in that one moment. I tried to teach myself that this is how it should be after marriage. He was a cocaine user. It was a tiring time. We were the perfect couple in front of outsiders. My whole family was happy. ‘ ‘It was like that for two months. That’s when i found out I was pregnant. I felt a joy I had never felt before. I remember being told I was pregnant and he kicked me in the stomach.
I called my mother and went home. Still no one knew. ‘ ‘So I went to the hospital. The doctor told me to have surgery. The doctor said you would have died if you had not had surgery. knowing this he tried to delay the surgery. That’s when my mom realized something. When the surgery was over, he called and told me that he needs divorce. ‘ ‘The baby is dead. Being depressed. I did not intend to leave him alone who ruined my life. Went to the police station but it didn’t matter. He then beaten my mother too. With that, it became a criminal case. He was remanded. Put in jail. He was also remanded for my case too and released. ‘
‘Until then I lived only for my family and then I decided to live for myself. My time should not be wasted so the case was settled. I left the house. Reached Kochi. Got a job at the gym. Then I went to Bangalore and trained to become a fitness trainer. Now I am a trainer. Now I live for myself. If we want to save our lives, we have to think for ourselves. ‘ Jasmine said with a heart empowered by the experience.
